Her Journey:

HISTORY:

Paige was first introduced to yoga asana in the mid 1990’s when she saw a yoga video by Jane Fonda. She also attended a college class in 1996 that discussed the health benefits of many eastern practices …including yoga. She continued to practice at home until 1998 when she attended her first group class. She was working next door to a Yoga Studio in Bethesda, as an auditor working at a client site, and decided to attend an “Iyengar yoga class” next door. However in all honesty, she didn’t enjoy the experience at that time and didn’t understand that there were many kinds of yoga to consider.  Meditation and movement was a practice early on in her life so she continued with that; as she was taught meditation tools at a teen in the 1980’s as a way to as a way to help her navigate living within an abusive alcoholic home.

Later in life after a skydiving accident, she experienced a major back injury in 2002 she was knew exactly where to return… Yoga. She returned to a different yoga studio to help her recovery and strengthen her back. After this studio she continued on to exploring many types of yoga and has practiced yoga ever since. (over 20 years now).

As a teacher she has found her own unique voice that combines her knowledge of awareness into a practice that is simple but effective. She works with athletes, dancers, and warriors in addition to those who sit a lot, write, type, text and need help improving their range of motion from a functional level to perform daily tasks in their life.

I am so glad my son (adult) is taking your yoga classes now. I told him you were the best yoga teacher I know; especially for a beginner. He told me he has taken 2 classes with you and so far he enjoys it. I sure do miss your classes! - June 2022

Paige battled with an eating disorder; living off of little to no food, diet pills, excessive exercise, and binge eating. She lost a lot of weight and used it as a coping tool for emotional pain and way to control the uncontrollable behavior of others.

In 2013, without any warning, she suffered from a vertebral artery dissection (VAD) and stroke that changed the direction of her life.  There are many kinds of strokes but hers was from a dissection in the neck that happened spontaneously. It happens to young people and there is no warning and science knows very little about why it happens beyond the fact that the artery walls were weak and they tare; possibly from neck manipulation.  Ever so grateful to her practice she was able to feel the change that occurred and communicate it to the first responders and doctors. She continued applying her yoga experience to the stages of what happens when dealing with injury and trauma.

Always looking to spread the knowledge of wellness to others, she incorporates a fusion of yoga styles that includes many familiar Western names of Hatha Yoga; such as Kripalu, Somatic, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Dharma, Vinyasa, Yin, Sivananda, Iyengar, Yoga Nidra, Svastha. She likes to explore, learn and have fun with yoga.  Her classes are focused more on improved mobility (range of motion), function & perception; rather than alignment or performing a pose/position.

Native Washingtonian. Her Grandfather (WW1 Vet) and Father (Korean War Vet - who also spent 25 years working at the Veterans Administration) were inspirational to her life. Paige grew up just outside of DC in Silver Spring, Maryland. Her Father, also a veteran, also worked at the VA Administration headquarters near the White House. She spent years going there to watch her Father work and travel the halls of the offices. He was part of a small team in the motion picture group who developed films that helped educate other veterans about benefits and train/educate staff. In fact, at the age of 9 years old, Paige was cast in a small role in a movie they made called “Feelings”; the movie was focused on helping staff learn more compassionate ways to respond to difficult situations.
