Friday night 6:30 to 9:30pm - intro discussion, connection and team activities
Saturday 8 - 4:30pm - discussion, practices, lunch and short breaks
Learn and study the two passive practices of Yin and Restorative Yoga. Paige will lead you practices but there will also be discussion and hands on experience in small groups.
*The history: How each practice was developed
*What makes them similar; what makes them different
*How they differ from Gentle or other Hatha Yoga classes
*Learn the benefits to the parasympathetic nervous system, joints, injuries, anxiety and stress
*Discuss Prop usage
*Contraindications students may have - pregnancy & injuries
*Ways to integrate these into your teachings even in more active (yang) yoga
*How to offer safe assists and adjustments
*Creating a safe environment for your class - tone, clothes, communication and why it is important
This will be a theory and practice training - part of the teacher training program. This is not a certification in either Yin or Restorative Yoga. Yet is helpful to anyone currently studying their 200 Hr Teacher Training.
Paige Lichens (www.paigesyoga.com) E-RYT 500 Kripalu Yoga & Meditation Teacher, who has also completed a 65 hour Yin Yoga training (with Jo Phee who continues to assist Paul Grilley the founder). Additionally Paige teaches restorative yoga all over the DC Metro area. She has been teaching for the past 10+ years and practicing for over 20 years.
